American 18th C. Highly figured mahogany, of serpentine form with silver metal mountings of shield shape on the façade and shell inlay to the lids.. Great care was taken with the interior of the boxes, with intricate inlay defining each storage slot and an eight-point nautical star within a star beneath the lid.
